Our Story
Sheep Run® was founded in 1998 with a simple mission – to share the incredible benefits of merino wool with outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. We started as a small family-owned business in Australia, a country known for its thriving wool industry.
Our founders were lifelong adventurers who understood firsthand the amazing performance properties of merino wool. They had spent decades hiking, camping, and exploring in Australia’s varied landscapes. Time and again, they were amazed at how merino wool kept them warm in the cold, cool in the heat, and fresh even after days on the trail.
Most of all, our founders were drawn to merino for its soft, lightweight comfort that allowed freedom of movement. They knew merino had the potential to truly revolutionize outdoor apparel. So they set out to make versatile, durable merino wool clothing accessible to everyone.
In the early days, we focused on creating high-quality base layers and midlayers perfect for hiking, skiing, and camping. Our foundation was merino t-shirts, long underwear, and sweaters engineered for mobility and all-day wearability.
